Crawfords recent award of a contract by Heron Resources Limited to provide road and rail transportation services for its Woodlawn Zinc-Cooper Project in New South Wales is the latest in a succession of gains in the Goulburn area. As recognised in the local media, Crawfords has picked up significant business on the southern rail corridor, and the Woodlawn contract is further indication of the need to develop Goulburn’s freight hub to handle more capacity into the future.
Heron’s announcement that it will be moving its ore concentrates by rail from Goulburn has already created much excitement in the region because of the economic, employment, and community benefits. Heron’s Chief executive Wayne Taylor was quoted in the Goulburn Post saying signing up Crawfords is “a fantastic opportunity”. Wayne recognised Crawford’s significant local presence, our impressive infrastructure that means Heron won’t have to bring trucks into Goulburn.
